Hi! I’m Rosie McDermott, owner of Verde Natural Florals. Thank you for your interest in my business!

I’ve always had my hand in the flower business in one way or another. I grew up working with flowers here in Charlottesville (my mom owned a flower shop!), then later worked as a floral designer in shops in Northern Virginia and Colorado, as well as when I returned to Charlottesville before taking a job at the University of Virginia. After a 15-year career in higher ed fundraising and marketing, the craft and beauty of floral design called me back.

 The words “Verde” (Spanish for “green”) and “Natural” are in our name for a reason. We specialize in handcrafted wedding and event designs that are nature-inspired, using seasonal flowers, herbs, foliage, and other garden and natural elements. We prioritize sustainability, keeping our impact to a minimum by composting, reusing vases, minimizing the use of floral foam, and ordering from local flower farms whenever possible.

When I’m not dreaming up wild and beautiful wedding florals, I find my joy and inspiration in gardening and adventuring outdoors in the mountains or on the water with my husband and our 10-year-old daughter. My favorite flower is the dahlia, I love crisp white wine, pretty block print fabric, and fresh fish tacos, and some of my most beloved places in the world are Hatteras Island, North Carolina; Sayulita, Mexico; the mountains of Colorado; and right here – Charlottesville, Virginia.
