MEET ROSIE

Rosie McDermott is the owner and lead designer of Verde Natural Florals.

Rosie has been in the floral industry for over 30 years. Originally from Charlottesville, she grew up working in her mom’s flower shop (the original Verde), then later worked as a floral designer in studios in Northern Virginia and Colorado. After a 15-year full-time career in higher education fundraising, events, and marketing, the art and beauty of floral design called her back.

Rosie’s approach to wedding florals is grounded in accessibility and authenticity. In an industry where trends can feel prescriptive or unattainable, she believes the most memorable and beautiful weddings are ones that follow instinct over formulas. Her design style can best be described as versatile—she loves creating a structured and airy modern bouquet just as much as a lush garden-style bouquet that looks freshly-picked from the garden. She prides herself on her ability to evoke your style with her years of floral experience and her creative eye. She is also known for being down to earth, easy to work with, and super organized.

Outside of wedding season, she finds joy and inspiration in adventuring outdoors in the mountains or on the water with her husband, teenage daughter, and beloved dog, Leo. Indoors, you’ll find her at a yoga class or a good restaurant. Her favorite flower is the dahlia, she’s a self-professed neat freak, thinks nothing beats a crisp white wine paired with raw oysters, and loves devouring a good book, preferably on a beach.
